1,400 Kitui Youths Selected to Benefit from World Bank Project


The world bank has been at the forefront in addressing the myraid of challenges facing the hard to reach youths.

Two months ago, the World Bank through it’s elaborate youth project dubbed “The Kenya Youth Employment Opportunities Project (KYEOP) floated an advert requesting youths to apply for slots in this project.

Out of the 47 Counties, the World Bank targeted only 13 Counties.

” It took the efforts of the stakeholders in Kitui including the County Governor, County Minister for Youth and Education, County Commisioner, the NYC and the clergy to ensure that only Kitui was selected in the whole of Eastern Province”, said the Kitui County Directorate of Youths.

Today 27/02/2019, the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) played host to a Youth Leaders Delegations from Kitui, Nairobi and Embu Counties who came to witness the randomization selection process.

“The process is very fair since there is no human interference in the selection process. The IT experts pressed a button and the software generated a list of the successful applicants. No room for favoritism at all”, said Muthiani of Kitui Rural.

Mr King’ang’i Katunda and Martin Kasinga from Kitui East and Mwingi West Respectively praised the selection process since all the 41 PWD youths who applied were successful.

A total of 1,400 Youths have been awarded a slot in the project to benefit in skilled training and internship and Business development.

“We can only thank our County Youth Minister Mr Kivoto, our County Youth Director, all the DCCs and chiefs and the NYC delegates who played a role in mobilizing youths to register,” said Aggrey Nzomo of NYC Kitui.
